The heating and cooling industry is always changing, with new innovations appearing regularly; but one thing that has never changed at SS&B Heating & Cooling is our commitment to excellence. Continuous training is the key to providing our clientele with the most current technology available to suit their needs and ensure their comfort.

The Air Conditioning Contractors of America have recognized SS&B Heating & Cooling as a Quality Installations certified company.

This commitment to excellence has proven to be our key to success and has brought accolades and awards from many of our associates. SS&B Heating & Cooling became a Trane dealer in 2001 and has risen to the pinnacle of dealerships, achieving the Trane “Comfort Specialist” designation. We care about what we do and appreciate every one of our clients.

Knowing Who the Business Is, Matters

There’s no shortage of options for any product or service you may need in Springfield and the Ozarks. Whether you’re looking for furnace repair or where you can buy a couch, in the 417 area you’ve got plenty to choose from. Aside from being able to find the business you need near you online or seeing ads in various media, knowing more about that business and who that business really is, makes a difference.

Below, directly from our local owner, Jeremy Grisham, are just a few of the questions we’ve been asked over the 50+ years in business that explain who we are at SS&B Heating & Cooling. After all, the owner is usually a pretty good reflection of the business, since they’re the ones to set the tone for the company’s culture and values. We hope that it helps you in your decision-making process when you search, heating and cooling companies near me.

For those who may not know, what products or services do you provide?

We are a locally owned and operated HVAC company that serves both new construction and residential service/replacement customers. We offer services for every stage of the life of HVAC equipment: planned maintenance, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, whole house air purification options, as well as other indoor air quality products. We are a top 10 Trane dealer with a great reputation, but we service and repair ALL brands, including American Standard, Carrier, Bryant, Amana, Lennox, Rheem, Rudd, Gibson, Goodman, York, Coleman, Janitrol, Payne and ICP Comfort maker, Acro Aire, and more.

What sets you apart from your competition?

Our dedication to quality AND to our customers is second to none in the industry. We are intentional with our decisions so that we stay true to our commitment to do what's best for our customers, our employees, and the Company, and these are just 3 examples of how we do that:

1) We are experts in and allocate enough resources to serve both our new construction and our service clients well. In our industry, you typically see companies that are only strong in one area or the other. This is a huge benefit to our builders because they can have confidence that if their customer has a need after installation, we have the capability to take care of it, 24/7.

2) We believe in our team so much that we offer a lifetime guarantee on our workmanship. If there is an issue and it was our mistake, we will fix it for free, period. We want our customers to know that they can trust us to do what's best for them, every time, without question.

3) Room-by-Room manual J load calculations. For the past 20+ years, every single duct system we install is custom-designed based on your square footage, the direction the structure faces, the amount and type of window/door glass, the type and thickness of the walls and insulation, etc. We measure and calculate all these factors (and more), and run them through our software to come up with the products and layout that will serve you best, taking the guesswork out of it. It's more time-intensive on the front end but results in far more efficiency and fewer potential problems later.

Community involvement?

We are blessed to be a blessing. Our business provides a great life to our family, and we want to honor what the Lord has placed in our hands by giving back to the community as much as possible. We enjoy supporting St. Jude's, Habitat for Humanity, the Pregnancy Care Center, Cherish Kids, Food for the Hungry, One Child Matters, Convoy of Hope, Honor Flight of the Ozarks, Art Fest, Boys Ranch, our local church, public radio, among others.

Where did the name come from?

SS&B was named after its founders Skaggs, Smith & Brown in 1969, and was sold to the Childers in 1997, who decided to keep the name. After moving to the Springfield area in 1997 to pursue an HVAC career after high school, I was working for another company when I met one of the founders, Roy Smith. During our conversation, we discovered to our surprise that we were actually distant relatives! I joined SS&B soon after, where I worked for the Childers family for 16 years. When I purchased the company, it felt like it came full circle.

What is the best business advice you have ever been given?

At the end of the day, all you have is your name. Mike Childers told me this when I worked for him. When you enter into an agreement with someone to do work for them, you take on the responsibility of providing them with the products and services promised. You must have the integrity to do everything you can to give them the value of what was promised, even if it means you lose money on a job. Sometimes mistakes happen or things go wrong that you can’t control, but at the end of the day our customers have made an investment for their family and we need to make sure we protect our reputation in the community that multiple generations have worked hard to build and keep intact.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

Putting my faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Marrying my wife and being an active and involved father to my four sons. I'm also proud of the fact that growing up we were near the poverty line, and now I'm able to provide a life for my family that I never dreamed of and work with some of the most talented people in the industry running a successful, well-respected business that I'm proud of.
