I don’t know anything about furnaces or air conditioners – where do I start?
First of all, you are not alone. Until there is a problem with your central heat or air, most people don’t pay attention to the system. You turn it on and adjust the temperature to your liking and never give it another thought. For most people, it’s like your car – you put the key in and turn the ignition and go. You don’t necessarily know exactly how each component works - you just rely on it to work when you need it.
If it makes you feel any better, I knew absolutely nothing about them either until I started working at SS&B in 2002. I know a lot more now, but I still learn something new every day!
So when you do have a problem, what should you do? Call a licensed and reputable service company and have a technician look at the system. I mentioned earlier that your HVAC system is similar to a car, and just like cars, these systems have evolved over the years and require more advanced diagnostic tools.
Still not sure what to do? Call our office – I can’t diagnose your problem over the phone, but I can point you in the right direction.
